Mainely Burgers, open in Central Square since 2016, is closing Friday, and its location at 704 Massachusetts Ave. is listed for a new operator by the leasing firm Graffito. In a Thursday email, the firm described the space as ready for immediate occupancy on a long-term lease.

The space has 1,304 square feet with seating for 40 people. It held Four Burgers for eight years until June 2016; Four Burgers was replaced quickly with Mainely Burgers, the bricks-and-mortar version of a Maine food truck started by brothers Jack and Max Barber in 2012.

“After six incredible years in Cambridge’s Central Square, we have made the difficult decision to close,” the owners said online, pointing fans to a Boston Landing site in Brighton that will stay open.

“To Cambridge, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to be a member of the community. Being from Maine and opening our first restaurant ever, we did not know what to expect. We were so blessed that our customers, neighbors, city officials, License Commission, economic development division and members of Central Square [Business Improvement District] helped us feel at home,” the owners said. “Cambridge will always have a piece of our hearts.”
