Cloud & Spirits, a Korean-infused restaurant in The Port neighborhood, has closed “after an exciting and ambitious two-year adventure” to become an event space, according to its website.

“While we are sad to bid farewell to operations as we have known it over the past two years, we are excited to introduce a new chapter,” Cloud & Spirits management said in the online message. “We will be shifting our focus to providing our beautiful space as an event venue for special occasions and parties. ”

Led by chef Katie Cheung, a former computer scientist who had stints at Radius, Kamikura and Menton, Cloud & Spirits took over in May 2021 the space at 795 Main St. that was once Cuchi Cuchi, a 19-year-old tapas restaurant that coronavirus closed in May 2020. Cloud & Spirits was open to 1 a.m. Saturday with seating for 49 and a full occupancy of 120 under general manager Michael Gander.

It served its last April 30, according to a Facebook post from Portugal’s consulate in Boston. Owner “Maria Valente has been present in the life of our community for many years,” the consul said. “Many thanks to Maria Valente and her family for the hospitality and dedication to Portuguese culture and gastronomy.” The closing was first reported by Eater.
