Newly opened boba tea and coffee cafe Teaholic plans to expand its menu to include desserts, first bought from a wholesaler but hopefully soon to be made on-site, a manager told the Cambridge License Commission on Jan. 12.

Qijun Zheng, manager for Teaholic at 205 Broadway in The Port, requested a license for the business to introduce homemade dessert options such as macarons and miso cakes, though the licensing isn’t needed immediately.

“We sure have the skill, but unfortunately we have to order wholesale” for now, Zheng said at the meeting, saying why the licensing was wanted despite the lack of current need. “We’re hoping to add more dessert, and we can’t if we can’t prepare it onsite. Every piece is growing.”

The licensing was granted by commissioners.
