Logan O’Brien (โ€œSouth Shore Boysโ€ podcast) and Garrett Finn (โ€œโ€˜The Boston Ski Partyโ€ย  podcast) join forces to host a “card” of comedy roast battles. Most competitors seize upon the โ€œroastโ€ part of the title, flinging brutal insults. I’d argue the โ€œbattleโ€ piece of the name, implying a sense of thoughtful strategy, is actually more crucial. The best roast battlers walk the line between being incisive toward their opponent and making a joke broad or familiar enough that the audience can get it. It has to stun the opponent, but not debilitate them โ€ฆ so the show can go on. And it has to be delivered confidently; like the showmanship that makes wrestling and boxing so fun, each line has to be delivered with a likable bravado. This lineup (including Cam Ohh, Brandon Battick, Katy Coughlin and more) has what it takes to make this a rumble worthy of the Rockwell.

โ€œRoast Battle Bostonโ€ at 9:30 p.m. Jan. 10 at The Rockwell, 255 Elm St., Davis Square, Somerville. $15 to $20 and 21-plus.
