Submitted by Somerville for Palestine: Thirty Jewish members of Somerville for Palestine held a standout in Davis Square on Tuesday during rush hour, singing, chanting and waving at cars that honked their support.

“The Israeli government has justified its genocidal actions in Palestine using Jewish ancestral trauma and grief,” said Skylar Karzhevsky, one of organizers. “The definition of antisemitism has been distorted to censor critics of the Israeli government and the occupation of Palestine in the name of ‘Jewish safety.’”

“We want folks to know there is a community of Jewish people that condemns the Israeli government’s violence against Palestinian people and proudly supports a free Palestine. We believe Jewish and Palestinian safety and liberation can coexist,” Karzhevsky said.

The group is circulating a Jewish letter of support for Palestine that has more than 135 signatures so far. “Jewish law does not support genocide. We cannot support another holocaust,” wrote one signer.
