Comedy is a challenging art form under the best of circumstances, so you can imagine what it’d be like to perform under the duress of food so spicy it’s panic-inducing. The Hot Sauce Comedy competition brings this dream (or nightmare) to life. To help promote the Rhythm n’ Spice Hot Sauce Festival,The Comedy Studio will resemble a live “Hot Ones” – the YouTube celebrity interview show – with each chicken tender coated in ever-spicier hot sauce options and followed by a minute of stand-up from competitors including Caroline Moore, Chad Loring and Randy O’Rourke “without crying, puking or quitting.” Liz Miller (of the “Who Books This” industry insider podcast) hosts, trying to help the audience and performers alike keep their cool. Whether laughs come from the jokes fired or the burning tongues, it’ll be a hilarious way to build up to May’s spiciest food festival at the Foundry.
Rhythm n’ Spice + The Comedy Studio Present: “Hot Sauce Comedy Competition” at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at The Comedy Studio, 5 John F. Kennedy St., Harvard Square, Cambridge. $10.
