A hallmark of improv is the fact that no one knows what’s going to take place onstage until it happens. But what if someone did? “Psyched Out: Improv From the Beyond” may be the closest possible scenario to that truth, as a show finds its laughs by staging scenes based on audience members’ psychic readings. Cape Cod psychic Karen Kelly and local improv troupe I Don’t Care for This have been collaborating for five years; in June the team-up heads to the fifth annual Boom Chicago Comedy Festival (taking place, surprisingly, in Amsterdam). You’ll get scenes based on common topics such as work, travel and love, but there’s also the possibility of exploring more ethereal moments with past lives or ghosts. At “Psyched Out,” the future doesn’t have to be a mystery – you can see it play out before you. With questionable accuracy, perhaps, but unquestionably filled with laughs.
“Psyched Out: Improv from the Beyond” at 7 p.m. May 30 at The Rockwell, 255 Elm St., Davis Square, Somerville. $17 to $22.
