The fifth Somergloom festival of “heavy” music is Aug. 7-9 with ticket prices ranging from $17 for the Thursday preview show; $42 for access all Friday and $53 for access all Saturday; $85 for a weekend pass and $97 for total, three-day access.
Not for you, though – the lucky people winning free access to Somergloom in a promotional partnership of the festival and Cambridge Day and The Week. Two pairs of the $97 all-weekend passes will be awarded by lottery. Email editor@cambridgeday.com to enter.
This year’s edition bounces over to Davis Square after spending last year at the Armory, though the first night’s prelude is at Deep Cuts in Medford with Slow Quit, Guhts, Lesotho and Main Era performing.
Day 2 headliner Body Void are doomcore-plus Vermont locals. Day 3’s headliner, the postmetal mavens Sumac, will arrive having played a sold-out show at an “international museum of surgical science” in Chicago a week earlier.
