The Davis Square Neighborhood Council has been working toward 501(c)(3) status for the past year and is at the point of electing its first board.

Council priorities and projects are improving Davis Square Plaza; Elm Street development; zoning for more housing; Community Path wayfinding and art; pedestrian safety; and community-building.

Board members will be key players in shaping Davis Square’s future. Building projects are likely to be planned and started in Davis Square, and board members will help negotiate with developers to ensure that the community gets concessions through community benefits agreements that pay for improvements to the square.

Ballots can be cast at the Somerville Library West Branch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and will be tallied Monday evening.

Eligible voters include those who work; get services; operate a business; regularly volunteer at an organization or agency; or own real estate within the Davis Square business district and those who live within a half mile of the boundary of the Davis Square business district. A map of the district is here.
