Comedian Tom Shillue is booked in Somerville on Sept. 6.

To hear him tell it, Tom Shillue has been in rarefied air his whole life. Per his stand-up, his family once held the distinction of being “the only family in Massachusetts driving a Volkswagen bus with a Nixon sticker on it.” These days, the rarities are of a somewhat different brand. Not many comedians can count among their accomplishments being a correspondent on “The Daily Show” and a recurring guest on Fox News late-night staple “Gutfeld!” Add to that his regular appearances on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” as part of a barbershop quartet, suggesting a singular talent with something to offer folks from many walks of life. Shillue brings nostalgia-tinged observational stand-up drawn from his time in those many roles to his Somerville “Good Time Comedy Show” tour stop. Given his upbringing in nearby Norwood, the VW bus is likely one of many locally sourced stories you’ll hear as he headlines.

“Tom Shillue’s Good Time Comedy Show”  at 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at Arts at the Armory, 191 Highland Ave., Spring Hill, Somerville. $36 general admission, $68 for VIP meet-and-greet.
