The CRLS boys soccer team celebrates senior Michael Brown’s opening goal against Lincoln-Sudbury on Thursday in Cambridgeโ€™s Danehy Park.

The Cambridge Rindge and Latin girls soccer team began its season with three wins in its first week of play, defeating Somerville (1-0), Bedford (2-0) and Boston Latin (3-1). All six goals were scored by Emily Anne Wintner, with Mariye Demissie and Helena Demissie contributing two assists each. Mia Naranjo and Naโ€™ilah Haymar each had one assist. On defense, center back Lucia Ochsendorf was instrumental in helping the Falcons limit their three opponents to a total of one goal.

The boys soccer team split its first two games, defeating Lincoln-Sudbury in its opener, 3-2, and losing to Brockton, 1-0. In the defeat of Lincoln-Sudbury, Michael Brown scored the first goal with an assist from Elias Hyland. The Falconsโ€™ second goal came on an own goal by Lincoln-Sudbury, and the third was an unassisted score from Jason Lim. Both games were highlighted by strong defensive performances from center back Brennen Loud, who helped keep both games competitive for the Falcons.

In other action, the football team lost its opener to North Quincy, 40-8. Girls volleyball took one of its first three matches, defeating Malden, 3-1, and losing to both Lexington and Lincoln-Sudbury, 3-0. The golf team dropped its first three matches, falling to Concord-Carlisle, Newton South and Waltham.

The boys and girls cross-country teams begin action this week. The girls begin the season ranked 10th in the state in the New Balance Girls Power Rankings.
