The Cambridge Rindge and Latin football team (2-0) turned in another dominating performance on Friday with a 30-6 shellacking of Belmont. The Falcon offense was powered by big plays, with quarterback Max Batchelor throwing touchdown passes of 57, 75, and 66 yards — his only three completions of the night. Hugo Davis caught the first and third touchdown passes, and Lincoln Jones caught the other one. The fourth CRLS touchdown came when Damaise Bellame returned a punt 49 yards. Will Ochsendorf’s 34-yard field goal completed the scoring.
Defensively, Damias Bellame had six tackles and a sack, and Jhenassy Shaw made seven tackles and forced a fumble. Sebastien Aray also made six tackles, and Jasper Adilleta intercepted a pass for the second week in a row.
Boys’ crew: At the CRI Fall Classic on the Charles River on Saturday, the boys’ crew team earned two medals. In the U19 4+ race, the crew of coxswain Son Schneider, Mateus Verdi, Zeke Bittker, Daniel Morland and Nicolas Karnath finished first with a time of 17:50.6. In the U17 8+ event, CRLS finished third with a time of 17:20.5. Coxswain Vida Ristivojevic steered a boat consisting of stroke Timur Cerimagic, Benjamin Scott, Milo Sperry, Eliot Samuel, Wyn Karmon, Leo Soper, Eli Garcia and Malcolm Funck.
Girls’ crew: The girls’ crew team won one medal at the CRI Fall Classic with a third-place finish in the U19 4+ race. In that event, the crew of coxswain Antonia Millan, Imogen Wu, Violet Finley, Nova Bahlmann and Moira MacCarthy crossed the finish line with a time of 20:44.3.
Girls’ volleyball: The girls’ varsity volleyball team defeated Malden, 3-1, on Friday to win its fourth match of the year, one victory shy of its total for last season. Noah Beyer led in kills with 15 and also had the same number of digs. Indie Fray had 11 kills, 13 digs, and 10 assists. Chiara Carfi also contributed with 10 assists, and Talia Livny and Abigail Fisher Seufert each recorded two blocks.
Boys’ cross country: The boys’ cross country team kicked off its season with a dominating 15-50 defeat of Weston on Sept. 16. Cambridge runners captured nine of the first ten places in the race. Kieran Eichler finished first (15:43), followed by Thomas Dewitt (15:48) and Gael Berzin (16:07).
Girls’ cross country: The girls’ cross country team also coasted to a defeat of Weston, winning 17-46, as eight of the first ten runners were Falcons. Neva Hartman took first (19:20), followed by Violet Smith (19:46) and Maeve Reynolds (19:48).
Boys’ soccer: In its lone match of the week, the boys’ soccer team (1-0-3) tied Concord-Carlisle, 1-1, on September 16. Kirubel Tilahun scored the Falcons’ goal, with Bona Alemo assisting. Goaltender Winslow Lively’s strong save toward the end helped preserve the tie.
Girls’ soccer: The girls’ soccer team (3-3) lost to Concord-Carlisle, 2-0, on September 16 and Arlington, 5-1, on Saturday. Two early goals set the stage for Concord-Carlisle, ranked third in Eastern Massachusetts by the Globe, in its win. The Arlington game was the Falcons’ sixth in eleven days, and their only score came on an own goal.
