Universal prekindergarten start
Joint City Council and School Committee roundtable, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday. The bodies come together to assess the success of a universal prekindergarten program rollout. The working meeting is set to be held at City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square. Televised and watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.
Three public art presentations
Public Art Commission, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. See what’s proposed for Rafferty Park in the Cambridge Highlands by artist Thomas Berger; for the fire department headquarters being renovated near Harvard Square by artist Kenji Nakayama; and for Raymond Park in Neighborhood 9 in a presentation by Coryn Kempster and Julia Jamrozik. At the offices of Cambridge Arts, second floor of 344 Broadway, Mid-Cambridge.
Multifamily zoning discussed
Ordinance Committee, 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 16. This committee run by vice mayor Marc McGovern and city councillor Paul Toner has two multifamily zoning petitions back from the full City Council for discussions as amended: focused on four stories as a base for citywide home construction, a reduction from the initial proposal of six stories. After this second of two committee meetings, the zoning is expected back before the full council for a final vote in February. The committee meets at City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square. Televised and watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.
Looking ahead
Combined Sewer Overflow control planning update, 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 22. Heavy rainfall can still cause sewer systems to overflow and pollute our rivers, but Cambridge, Somerville and the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority are working on plans for sewer improvements that will reduce the pollution. Plans will be discussed via Zoom videoconferencing.
