If the sight of Mekki Leeper has you wondering, “Where do I know him from?” you’d be forgiven – you have a lot of options! He’s Noah, naive Juror No. 11 (and an Emmy-nominated writer) on Freevee’s “Jury Duty.” He was Eric, a writer for the campus comedy magazine in “The Sex Lives of College Girls” on Max. And this year he’s making a mark as Matt, the clueless new nurse on NBC’s “St. Denis Medical.” But when you come and see him live, you’re seeing him in his element. “I started as a stand-up, I’ve always loved it so much and I’ll never stop doing it,” he says of his current hour of material. You’ll get to see jokes that move beyond his characters to who he is as a person. “I love when I watch a comedian do their hour and I feel like I know them. That’s the dream, to write material that feels like that.” With that said, if you do recognize him from TV, he loves it, he told Numéro Netherlands Odyssey in November. “The fans of [these shows] are the kindest, most generous, sweet people, and it means the world that they come to my shows now. Getting to write and act and do stand-up at the same time makes me feel like the luckiest person in the world.”

Mekki Leeper at 7 p.m. Jan. 19 at The Comedy Studio, 5 John F. Kennedy St., Harvard Square, Cambridge. $26.
