On Friday, for two hours, the building is yours.

The Russell-West Cambridge Youth & Community Center is being thrown open from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for whatever community members want to do, said Sean McLaughlin, the centerโ€™s teen-program director.

โ€œCome play some pingpong, pool, video games, use our enormous gym, our computer lab, fitness room,โ€ he said. โ€œCome and use the center however you would like.โ€

Within reason, one assumes.

There is one event planned for the evening: a showcase and display of the work of Indie Spirit, a program for preteens that โ€œpromotes individuality in a collaborative way,โ€ McLaughlin said.

The center is at 680 Huron Ave., Cambridge. A printable flier for the free event can be found by clicking here, or McLaughlin can be contacted for information by phone at (617) 349-6314, by e-mail or on Facebook.
