The Cambridge Police Department is promoting three lieutenants to the rank of deputy superintendents Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the police station, 125 Sixth St. near Kendall Square.

Due for promotion are John J. Albert, who joined the force in 1987 and supervises traffic enforcement; Paul J. Ames, who also joined in 1987 and has been performing such roles as commanding the Tactical Patrol Force and coordinating case management for the Investigations Section; and Christine A. Elow, who joined in 1995 and is commander of the Professional Standards Unit.

“The deputies will join the command staff and contribute in a meaningful way to the department to strategize on how to most effectively deliver policing services in collaboration with the community,” Commissioner Robert Haas said. “Their shared vision will greatly enhance our efforts.”

The Cambridge Police Department has a sworn compliment of 273 Officers and 42 civilian personnel responding to more than 100,000 calls for service yearly.
