The West Cambridge Youth & Community Center and Cambridge Police are offering a self-defense basics course Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The free event will be held at the center, 680 Huron Ave., Cambridge, said Sean McLaughlin, the center’s teen program director.
