If you’re looking for a post-work, pre-weekend event, here’s a unique suggestion from City Council candidate Minka vanBuezekom: Come hear her pitch her qualifications for office while you shop for all your honey-related needs at Follow the Honey, just outside Harvard Square at 1132 Massachusetts Ave.

The store has honey, of course, produced locally as well as imported from each of the 50 states and around the world, as well as candles, lotions, drinks, books, clothing and more made from or about the stuff.

The candidate, who’s been visible for years weighing in on citywide health and environmental issues, knows store founder Mary Canning and said she helped Canning with the store and landscaping.

The 5 p.m. event seems equal parts about vanBuezekom and Follow the Honey — which, if nothing else, provides a glimpse at the next wave of area retail. (Along with an all-honey store, Harvard Square’s next wave includes a brand-new Goorin hat store at 43 Brattle St.)
