Want to be a firefighter? Information session for April test set for March 11
Applicants for a firefighter exam to be held April 26 should attend a candidate open house information session from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 11 at City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square, city officials said.
Organizers said they are looking for candidates with “integrity, courage and a willingness to help those in need” to take the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Open Competitive Municipal Service Written Examination for Firefighters in April.
The test has two parts: written and of physical abilities, and candidates must take and pass both to be put on the list for appointment in a civil service city or town.
The early application deadline is March 17, with a fee of $200. Applications will be accepted no later than March 31, with a fee of $250.
