The City of Cambridge, Feb. 24, 2016: The City of Cambridge Scholarship Program is offering financial help to eligible residents pursuing post-secondary education. The deadline for applications and supporting documentation is March 7.

Through this Scholarship Fund Program, the city has awarded thousands of dollars to college-bound high school seniors and others who want to pursue higher education – 71 scholarships of $2,500 each in the past fiscal year, made possible by the generosity of residents, business owners and taxpayers who support the annual fund. With the increasing cost of higher education as well as continued economic uncertainty, these scholarships help ease the financial burden for Cambridge individuals and families.

A Scholarship Committee made up of six Cambridge residents appointed by the city manager reviews applications and selects the scholarship recipients. The fund is administered by the Finance Department.

Applications are available at Cambridge Public Schools, public library branches and at City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square. For eligibility requirements, additional information or to download and print an application, click here.

For information or to make a contribution to the fund, call the city’s Finance Department at (617) 349-4220.
