From the Department of Public Works, Dec. 14, 2017: Trash and recycling collection will be performed as usual in the coming week. But there will be no trash or recycling collection Monday, Dec. 25, or Monday, Jan. 1; in each case, collections will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week.

The Recycling Drop-Off Center will be open Saturday, Dec. 23, and Saturday, Dec. 30. There will be no change to the Recycling Center’s hours this holiday season.

Curbside collection of bare holiday trees will take place Jan. 2 to Jan. 12 on regular trash and recycling days, weather permitting. Decorations and stands must be removed and trees should not be in a plastic bag. Residents can also bring bare trees to the Recycling Center during open hours (Tuesday through Thursday 4 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) from Dec. 26 to Jan. 31.

Street cleaning operations will not take place Monday, Dec. 25; weather permitting, those streets will be swept Friday, Dec. 29, the last day for street cleaning operations in 2017. Street cleaning services will resume in April.

Cambridge Cemetery gates will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the holiday season. Cemetery and Public Works Administrative Offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 22; Monday, Dec. 25; and Monday, Jan. 1.

City Hall and most municipal buildings will be closed Friday, Dec. 22, and Monday, Dec. 25, in observance of the Christmas holidays. All Library locations will be closed Friday, Dec. 22; Sunday, Dec. 24; and Monday, Dec. 25, but the Main Library and Central Square Branch Library will be open Saturday, Dec. 23, for their normal hours. The Citywide Senior Center will be closed Dec. 22-25, and on Jan. 1.

Payments are not required at City of Cambridge parking meters and parking meter pay stations on Monday, Dec. 24, and Monday, Jan. 1.
