The city is looking for volunteers to serve on a new working group to guide the Port Infrastructure Project, which will reduce how often and how badly stormwater floods and sewers back up in the neighborhood, as well as improve the surface infrastructure including streets, sidewalks, shade trees, landscaping and open spaces – in all, more than $35 million in improvements.

The working group will consist of 10 to 15 members meeting regularly for 12 to 18 months, starting this fall. The deadline for applying is Sept. 18.

For questions, call supervising engineer Jerry Friedman at the Department of Public Works at (617) 349-9720 or send email to [email protected]. To apply, use the city’s online application system to submit a cover letter and résumé or summary of applicable experience. Paper applications are available in the City Manager’s Office at Cambridge City Hall, 795 Massachusetts Ave.
