For the past seven years I have run a Winter Warmth Drive to raise money that buys sleeping bags for unhoused individuals in Cambridge. The project has provided more than 1,000 sleeping bags that have been lifelines to those experiencing homelessness.

Of course, we know this is only a stopgap. What people need are homes, but we also know that people are cold tonight and need immediate help.

Our goal this year is to raise $20,000. I have once again partnered with the First Parish Cambridge Unitarian Universalist church, Harvard Square Business Association, Central Square Business Improvement District and the East Cambridge Business Association, as well as Hilton’s Tent City.

Please consider making a contribution today. It is getting cold fast, and the sooner we raise the funds the sooner we can buy the bags and distribute them.

To make an online contribution, visit bit.ly/winterwarmth21 or mail a check made out to First Parish UU Church at First Parish, 3 Church St., Cambridge, MA 02138. Write “Winter Warmth Drive” in the memo section.

Thank you!
