Prabir De

After an exhaustive search, a missing 70-year-old Cambridge man with dementia was found in Watertown by police there, officials reported at 4:07 a.m. Thursday.

“We are grateful for everyone’s efforts and support,” said Jeremy Warnick, director of communications and media relations for Cambridge police. The overnight rain added to worries about the man, Warnick said.

The man was reported missing Wednesday evening: Prabir De, who is new to the city and speaks little English, and known to stay in the area of Danehy Park or at his home on the 200 block of Walden Street, Neighborhood 9. He was last seen there at about 5 p.m. Wednesday wearing a navy blue crewneck T-shirt and checkered shorts. He was described as standing about 5-foot-5 and weighing 134 pounds, with a slender build.

Police asked that anyone who saw De or may have had information about his whereabouts to call 911 or the Cambridge Police Department at (617) 349-3300.
