Presidents Day holiday

Presidentsย Day isย Monday. All city offices are closed for the holiday. Trash and recycling pickup is delayed by one day.


Give opinions on digital equity

Digital equity planning, 6 p.m. Tuesday. Community members are invited to join the cityโ€™s Digital Bridge Initiative and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council for a meeting to help shape the cityโ€™s digital equity planning, helping residents with access to the Internet, devices and digital literacy classes. Those attending can give their experiences with Internet access and digital skills. The meeting will take place via Zoom.

Historic Preservation hearings

Historic Preservation Commission, 6:45 p.m. Tuesday. The commission meets for four public hearings regarding alterations to historic district properties or determinations of historic significance โ€“ including at 326 Lowell St., near Magoun Square, where the property owner seeks to tear down a two-family home built in 1851. The meeting will take place via Zoom.


Human rights goals get a look

Human Rights Commission, 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The commission meets to talk about recruitment and goals for the group. Tabling events for March will also be discussed. The meeting will take place via Zoom.


Somerville needs poll inspectors

Polling place workers information session, 2 p.m. Thursday. The cityโ€™s election department is hiring inspectors for the March 5 presidential primary election. These informational sessions will discuss basic knowledge of the polls and have attendees fill out paperwork to become city employees. IDs along with a passport, Social Security card or birth certificate are needed to fill out the paperwork. Inspectors must be registered voters in Massachusetts, but not necessarily in Somerville. Compensation for inspectors is $200 for the day. The sessions take place at Somerville City Hall, 93 Highland Ave., Central Hill. Registration for the sessions is required.


Flu vaccine clinic to be held

Vaccine clinic, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday. Somerville Health and Human Services hosts a flu vaccine clinic free of cost regardless of health insurance or immigration status. Vaccines are for people 12 years or older. Pre-registration is encouraged.
