The rajas taco from Olé – with the peppers hidden by toppings. (Photo: Madeleine Aitken)

Price: $4

By night, it’s a full-service restaurant serving upscale Mexican cuisine; by day, it’s a to-go counter serving quick bites such as burritos, quesadillas, tacos and tortas. Olé, just off of Inman Square on Springfield Street, has been around since the late 1990s, and its to-go menu is just as worth your while as the sit-down dinner experience. I tried the rajas taco, red peppers (despite the menu saying poblano) with onions and black beans, topped with lettuce, a dollop of guacamole and a sprinkling of cheese. The tortilla was soft and fresh, the peppers and onions were cooked well without being overly mushy, the beans were nicely seasoned (if a little wet), and the guac had a good tang. The whole thing had a nice kick without being overpowering, and the taco was stuffed, making for a good, hearty bite that gets you a decent amount of bang for your buck.
