Harvard Square will get a Sichuan restaurant called Too Hot this October, according to plans approved in a Cambridge License Commission meeting Tuesday.

“Sichuan is one of the most popular cuisines in China,” said Andrew Upton, an attorney speaking on behalf of the owners of Too Hot. “It’s known for its very spicy food, hence the name ‘Too Hot.’”

The 1,800-square-foot restaurant at 18 Eliot St. will include seating for 60. It will be open from 11 a.m. every day, with food served in the restaurant until 11 p.m. and takeout available until it closes at 2 a.m. Too Hot was approved for an all-alcohol liquor license during the meeting.

“We believe there is public need for this type of cuisine,” Upton said, referring to its location in Harvard Square and across from the Harvard Kennedy School.

Han Wang, the proposed manager of record, works at Noah’s Kitchen, a Sichuan restaurant in Brookline. Too Hot’s chef, who has owned Noah’s Kitchen for four years, worked as a chef for 15 years in China and was trained in Sichuan.

“These owners have had a great success with their authentic version of this food in Brookline and they’re looking to replicate it here,” Upton said.

He emphasized a need for Sichuan restaurants in Cambridge, noting that “when you Google the top 10 Sichuan-style restaurants in Cambridge, it appears that four of them are in Allston-Brighton.”

During the meeting, commissioners also approved a license for Krispy Krunchy Chicken, the national chain that will replace Ferro’s Laundrytown. The deli in Ferro’s Foodtown will close when Krispy Krunchy Chicken opens, which will be in about six months, according to Ferro’s.
