Samosas from Surya Indian Kitchen N Caterers in Cambridgeport. (Photo: Madeleine Aitken)

Price: $8.45

Despite an unassuming exterior, a tiny store and a discreet location in residential Cambridgeport, Surya Indian Kitchen N Caterersโ€™ food is seriously good. The vegetable samosas, which come in an order of two, are pretty close to perfect. They came out piping hot, evidently having been freshly fried, and were satisfyingly crispy and slightly oily on the outside. The filling, a flavorfully spiced potato and pea mixture, provided the slightest kick to offset the decadence of the fried shell, and they came with a tamarind sauce for dipping โ€“ fine, not bad, but not anything memorable either; the samosas were better on their own. Though $8.45 for two samosas is on the more expensive side, these were so large (and full of that delicious potato pea mixture) that I actually felt they were totally worth the money. Itโ€™s enough food for a decent snack, and theyโ€™re absolutely delicious.
