Price: $9ย

At Vester Cafe in Kendall Square, the vibes might be described as industrial chic โ€“ cinder blocks painted dark gray, copper pipes, fake ivy. Fitting since, as a sign on the wall informs you, Vester was inspired by Copenhagenโ€™s Vesterbro, a former meatpacking district revived by restaurants and cafes. The menu is simple, mostly sandwiches and salads but with a dedicated breakfast section. After a satisfying experience at CanalSideโ€™s Nu Burger, Iโ€™ve been thinking about where else you can get a good, cheap burger in Camberville, so Vesterโ€™s $9 smashburger caught my eye. A grass-fed patty with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion and secret sauce on a Martinโ€™s potato bun, this one absolutely checked that box. I particularly enjoyed the meatโ€™s thinness and crispy edges, the tang of the sauce, and how soft the bun was. In short: a great bite that was, at $9, also a great price.ย
