Please enjoy the recording of the Jan 29 Conversation on Multifamily Housing.
We heard loud and clear from readers that more coverage on the topic of multifamily zoning would be valuable. To that end, we found 3 speakers who are knowledgeable on the topic – one who has strong concerns with the zoning proposal, one who is strongly for it, and one who is in the middle – to have a nuanced discussion on the merits of such a proposal and of multifamily zoning reforms more broadly. We also wanted to bring in voices that are not the typical ones you might hear at e.g., city council meetings for a fresh perspective. The Cambridge Day takes no editorial position on the topic and we are experimenting with events as a new venue to engage our readers.
This event was organized by Cambridge Day as a news organization that holds no view as to what should be done regarding housing. The individuals on the board and staff personally hold very different views on what should occur. This event was inspired by many people telling us they would welcome a forum for discussion where different views are discussed without rancor to enhance their understanding of an important issue. It has been set up as a panel discussion, not a clash of verbal gladiators. As a news organization this was an effort to have civil discourse on a divisive topic; it was not an attempt to persuade in any particular way.
We look forward to your feedback at comments@cambridgeday.com!
We appreciate Wistia sponsoring the event!

I would appreciate it if you could write an article summarizing the event, or in this one put in timestamps for key moments in the discussion.
