With “taqueria” in the name, I had high hopes for the tacos from Montecristo, and I was not disappointed. At $4 each, I was able to get two tacos, leave a tip and stay within our $10 Snack budget, which was already a win. Then I took a bite, and things got even better. Simply put, these were top-notch tacos. The tortillas were filled with generous portions of meat, topped with red onions and cilantro and served with lime wedges. I tried chicken and beef; in both cases the meat was flavorful with deliciously charred bits and the tortillas were pliable with a nice corn flavor and slight chew. But the real star of the show was Montecristo’s salsa verde, in squeezy bottles on the tables for easy application (and reapplication). It took already-great tacos to new heights. Easily some of the best tacos money can buy in Camberville.
