What’s summer without ice cream? I don’t want to know. There’s no shortage of places around Camberville to find it, but visiting the soft serve window at Momma’s Grocery + Wine is a particularly enjoyable experience. Serving one size and one fixed flavor only (maple! with chocolate or vanilla alternating) from the window of what is already a rather charming store filled with local produce and natural wines, this neighborhood spot has amassed a following, and for good reason. I got my maple ice cream in a wafer cone and felt $5 was a very fair price for what was a tall swirl of delicious ice cream. Sometimes I find that maple-flavored desserts can be overly sweet, but not this one. The flavor was lighter than I was expecting, in a positive way. It certainly tasted of maple, but wasn’t at all cloying, and the neutral wafer cone was a perfect vessel.

Momma’s maple creemees are awesome, saves a trip to Vermont!
These are so good. Always worth stopping in and chatting a bit, too.
I agree on both counts. But they can run out in warm weather, so be advised!
