Flavor Boom, a local casual Asian-style eatery with a few Greater Boston locations, expanded recently to near Kendall Square in Cambridge. The menu offers items from a wide range of the Eurasian continent, all with the same allure of homey, comforting tastes. The marble tea egg caught my eye, as itโ€™s a rare find for a menu in Cambridge, and it too had a surprisingly deep flavor for something from a casual eatery: a blend of saltiness and savoriness, with a tiny hint of herbs mixed in delightfully with the texture of the egg white and yolk. Quite a satisfying snack. The egg comes unpeeled, so you have to put in some work, but removing the shell reveals a beautiful pattern stained by the tea-and-soy-sauce marinade. (Unfortunately,ย I was so enthusiasticย about eating I took only a picture of the unpeeled egg; weโ€™re borrowing an image from Flavor Boom.)
