Something about the summer breeze has had me craving Thai snacks. This time, I visited Pepper Sky’s, an unassuming restaurant in Central Square. The interior decor is humble, almost reminiscent of casual eateries from the aughts, but the flurry of delivery orders being hustled in and out on a weeknight signaled immediately that this place was a gem. After a hearty meal with a friend, I ordered the fried banana for dessert. Having never tried this Thai classic, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but out came slices of banana fried in egg-roll wrapping, lathered in honey and coated in sesame seeds. A simple concept, but each bite unveiled a fun mix that balanced the crispiness of the wrapping with the softness of the banana, the sweetness of the honey with the nuttiness of the sesame. If I hadn’t been sharing I would’ve easily popped every piece in my mouth.
