Engineers endorse Strezo

The Local 4 chapter of the International Union of Operating Engineers endorses councilor at-large Kristen Strezo in her run for reelection, Strezo posted on Instagram Friday. The chapter represents more than 5,000 construction and heavy machinery workers in Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire.

Marianne Walles, Jon Link, Ben Wheeler, Jack Perenick, Holly Simione, Scott Istvan and incumbent Will Mbah are also bidding for the councilโ€™s four at-large seats.

Six endorsements for Walles

Ward 1 councilor Matt McLaughlin, Ward 3 councilor Ben Ewen-Campen, Ward 4 councilor Jesse Clingan and Ward 1 School Committee member Emily Ackman endorsed Walles in her run for councilor at large. In messages posted by Walles to Instagram, all four cited Wallesโ€™ experience as a social worker and union organizer.

State senator Lydia Edwards also endorsed Walles. Edwards represents Massachusettsโ€™ Third Suffolk District, which covers Revere, Winthrop and most of Boston. (Somerville is represented by state senator Pat Jehlen.) Edwards had endorsed mayor Katjana Ballantyne in July.

Walles also posted on Sept. 22 an endorsement from state representative for the 27th Middlesex District Erika Uyterhoeven. The district covers most of Somerville.

Phillips, Ewen-Campen endorse Wilson

Ewen-Campen and Ward 3 School Committee member Sarah Phillips endorse councilor at-large Jake Wilson in his run for mayor, Wilson posted on Instagram. Wilson won 42 percent of the vote in Sept. 16โ€™s preliminary election, and will be on Novemberโ€™s ballot running against councilor at-large Willie Burnley Jr. Ballantyne was dropped from Novemberโ€™s formal ballot.ย

Wilson hires campaign finance directorย 

Brenna Broderick has joined Wilsonโ€™s team as campaign finance director, Wilson posted on Instagram on Sunday. โ€œBrennaโ€™s skills in fundraising and community engagementย will be key along Jakeโ€™s path to election,โ€ the announcement post reads. A LinkedIn profile matching Broderickโ€™s name and photo, but unverified by the Wilson team, lists her most recent employment experience as development and communications manager at the Concord farm Gaining Ground.
