Strezo supports Teamsters strike, co-sponsors resolution with Clingan
Councilor at-large Kristen Strezo attended a picket line with striking Republic Services employees last week. The workers, who work in waste management, are members of the Local 25 chapter of the Teamsters union, which endorsed Strezo last week. “The strike will impact Somerville, and I hope Republic Services leadership will do the right thing, come to the table and honor their dedicated workers with a respectable contract,” Strezo posted on Instagram Wednesday.
She and Ward 4 councilor Jesse Clingan introduced a resolution at Thursday’s council meeting in support of the workers. The resolution asks the city to call on Republic Services to reach an equitable contract with the union and restore services.
