
At the Devens Pre-Championship Classic on Saturday, girls’ cross-country runner Sophia Juanes Seto was the top runner at the 14-team meet with a time of 18:26.76, beating the second-place finisher by 30 seconds. The girls’ cross-country team took third place with 137 points, finishing behind Winchester (71 points) and Hamilton-Wenham (108 points). Cambridge’s other top runners were Violet Smith (17th place, 20:48.17), Neelu Trivedi (30th place, 21:41.27), Lauren Sebesta (38th place, 22:17.90) and Nia Raskar (51st place, 22:57.23).
Cambridge Rindge and Latin School defeated Lincoln-Sudbury, 19-36, in a dual meet Wednesday. Seto finished first with a time of 17:55, followed by Fiona Litman (second place, 19:42) and Smith (third place (20:22).
Boys’ cross-country: The boys’ cross-country team took second at the 16-team meet with 61 points, losing to Concord-Carlisle (45 points), ranked first in Eastern Massachusetts by The Boston Globe, and finishing ahead of Boston College High School (69 points). Thomas Dewitt was the top runner for CRLS, finishing third with a time of 15:50.11. He was followed by Leon Ibanez Fraile (seventh place, 16:01.64), Liam Eldridge (eighth place, 16:03), Kieran Eichler (20th place 16:34.39) and Gael Berzin (23rd place, 17:02.66).
CRLS defeated Lincoln-Sudbury, 17-44, in a dual meet on Wednesday. Fraile finished first with a time of 16:25, followed by Dewitt (second place, 16:36), and Eldridge (third place, 16:41).
Girls’ soccer: The girls’ soccer team (6-4-2) split their two games last week, losing to Lincoln-Sudbury, 3-0, on Oct. 7 and defeating Wayland, 2-1, on Thursday. In a victory against Wayland, Lucia Ochsendorf scored her first goal of the season, hitting the back of the net on a free kick. The second goal came from Cece Lubetsky, who was assisted by Sascha McHugh. Goaltender Fio Eddy made several key saves to help secure the win.
Boys’ soccer: The boys’ soccer team (6-2-3) went 1-0-2 last week, giving Lincoln-Sudbury a 2-0 defeat on Oct. 7 and tying Wayland and Newton North, both by scores of 1-1, on Thursday and Saturday. Against Lincoln-Sudbury, the first goal came from Xavier “Xavi” Mir, with an assist from Andre Baraglia. It was Mir’s third conference goal of the season and Baraglia’s fifth assist. Rhys Brown scored the second goal on an assist from Mir.
In the tie with Wayland, captain Michael Brown scored on a header after receiving an assist from Phineas Tomsho. Against defending state champion Newton North, captain Giacomo Cotta-Ramusino Zambotti tied it up in the final minute on an assist from Jamilsom Parker Fernandes to maintain CRLS’ undefeated record at home.
Football: The football team (2-3) lost to Newton South, 14-10, in a hard-fought contest on Friday. Jovens Exilhomme led the way with two receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown, his team-leading third of the season. Paul Dottin led the rushing attack with six carries for 48 yards, while Jamai Lewis added six carries for 36 yards and Chris Jean Batiste ran for 30 yards on five carries.
Girls’ volleyball: In a 3-0 girls’ volleyball loss to Wayland on Thursday, Noah Beyer had 28 assists and eight kills. Eliana Su had 10 digs, and Miriam Jacob added 12 assists.
