The aphorism is a concise, clever phrase that captures a truth about the world. James Geary is an author, journalist and aphorist. He is updating his best-selling book “The World in a Phrase: A Brief History of the Aphorism, Second Edition.” Cambridge Day asked him to put together the best aphorisms by Cantabrigians. He selected several from across the history of the form and the history of Cambridge.
