
Down by as many as a dozen points in the second half, the Cambridge Rindge and Latin boys’ basketball team came back to defeat Attleboro, ranked second in Eastern Massachusetts by The Boston Globe, 66-60, on Tuesday in the championship game of the Cambridge Legends Classic at the War Memorial Gym. Jaydaan Correia was a powerhouse, scoring 26 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, to lead the way for the Falcons (4-2) and win the tournament MVP. It followed a 20-point, 10-rebound performance in a 53-45 defeat of Natick in the semifinals on Tuesday.
Levi Daniels-Prempeh connected on 5-of-6 shots and was perfect from the free throw line to score 13 points against Attleboro. He also collected five rebounds. Against Natick, Aaron Abebe had 14 points, and Morris Lichtenstein was strong on the glass with 11 rebounds.
Girls’ basketball: The girls’ basketball team (1-4) lost both games of the Cambridge Legends Classic. In a 62-40 loss to Belmont on Monday, Nada Elfathy led the way with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Jai Gomes added 14 points. In a 55-44 loss to Cathedral in the consolation game on Tuesday, Gomes scored 15 points, and Jaidah Hope added eight points and four steals.
Boys’ hockey: In the First Responders Tournament at Simoni Rink, the boys’ hockey team (1-3) defeated Somerville, 4-0, in the semifinals on Monday and lost to Nashoba, 5-2, in the championship game on Tuesday. Against Somerville, Matias Moore scored two goals, Joel Perez scored twice and added an assist, and Liam Molberger had his first career goal and added an assist. Henrik Emerton assisted on three goals, and Joshua Pite added another. Goaltender Isaac Winter-Barkai saved ten shots for the shutout.
The 5-2 loss was more competitive than the final score would suggest, since Nashoba scored two empty netters at the end of the game. Moore and Molberger scored one goal apiece. Pite assisted on both goals, and Tate Schoenau added another. Goaltender Owen Goldstein made 36 saves.

Girls’ hockey: The girls’ hockey team (0-4) lost to Stoughton on the road on Dec. 23, 3-2, and at Simoni Rink on Tuesday, 4-3. In the loss at Stoughton, Olivia Gao scored both goals, and Carolyn Rapp added an assist. Goaltender Max Cowen-Breen had 20 saves.
In the second loss to Stoughton, the game-winning goal was scored with 19 seconds remaining in the game. Caitlin Beyer scored twice, and Olivia Cruz added another goal. Allison Rapp had two assists, and Joanna Gao, Olivia Gao, and Rapp had one assist each.
Boys’ and girls’ track: Runners from the CRLS track teams competed at the MSTCA Boston Holiday Challenge on Saturday. More than 130 schools from as far away as Ohio had athletes participating. For the CRLS boys, top performers included Miel Henry, who finished thirteenth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.89. Jarehl O’Bannon finished 17th in the triple jump with a distance of 38’ 8”. In the long jump, Laurent Valentin finished 19th with a distance of 19’ 6 1/2″. For the CRLS girls, Klaffjulie Etienne had the strongest performance, finishing fifteenth in the triple jump with a distance of 31’ 8”.
