Rory Evans is declared the winner of the 165-pound weight class at the sectional championship on Saturday.

Cambridge Rindge and Latin School’s wrestling team took 5th place at the Division 1 Central/Metro sectional on Saturday. Arlington placed first among the 14-team field. Top performer for CRLS was Rory Evans, who won the 165-pound weight class with a 15-2 defeat of Matthew Hovsepian of Waltham. Gavin Oberhauser took second in the 144-pound weight class. Three CRLS wrestlers took third in their weight classes: Max Haehn at 113 pounds, Angel Guevara Mateo at 120 pounds, and Orlando Spadola at 175 pounds. All five wrestlers will compete at the Division 1 State Championships on Friday and Saturday.

Girls’ hockey: On Senior Night on Monday, the girls’ hockey team defeated Stoneham, 5-3. It was the Falcons’ second win in its last four games, giving it a record of 3-16 on the season. Allison Rapp, Olivia Cruz, Surina Phelan, Alicia Pite and Caitlin Beyer wre the goal scorers, with assists registered by Phelan, Pite, Caroline Rapp and Allie DelVecchio. Goaltender Max Cowen-Breen had 22 saves.

On Saturday, CRLS lost to Wayland-Weston, 7-2, with Pite scoring both goals on assists from Phelan and Caroline Rapp. On February 25, Acton-Boxborough defeated them, 9-1, with Caroline Rapp scoring the lone goal on an assist from Marin Albrecht.

Boys’ hockey: The team lost to Lexington, 4-0, on February 25 and to Methuen, 4-2, on Saturday.

Boys’ basketball: After winning 11 consecutive games from December 22 through February 6, the boys’ basketball team has lost four of five games and is now 13-6. It lost to Bedford, 58-56, on February 10, and Albert D. Holland School of Technology, 68-67, on February 11, both on buzzer beaters. On Thursday, the Falcons lost another close game, this time to Acton-Boxborough, 73-70, on Thursday. CRLS bounced back with a 70-44 defeat of Chelsea on Saturday before losing to Newton North on Monday, 67-44.

In the loss to Bedford, Jahari Toure Ortiz led the team with 19 points, connecting on 5-of-6 attempts from beyond the three-point arc. Against Albert D. Holland, Jaydaan Correia scored 19 points, and against Acton-Boxborough he had 26 points while shooting 11 for 13. Aaron Abebe added 17 points against Acton-Boxborough. In the defeat of Chelsea, Iman Firmin Jr. led with 15 points and Abebe scored 14.

The Falcons will learn who they will face in the postseason tournament on Saturday. The tournament will begin on Monday.

Girls’ basketball: The girls’ basketball team (6-13) lost to Bedford on February 10, 57-51, despite a monster game from Nada Elfathy, who had 31 points and 11 rebounds. Two days later, Elfathy scored 14 and had seven rebounds, three assists and two steals and Jai Gomes added 13 points in a 61-44 loss to Acton-Boxborough. On Monday Christina Louverture had 13 points in a 42-32 loss to Milton.

Girls’ track: The girls’ track team finished 14th among 24 teams at the Division 1 Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday. Lexington won the meet. Sophia Juanes Seto finished second in the one-mile run with a time of 5:53.67. The 4×800 meter relay team of Neva Hartman, Fiona Litman, Neelu Triveldi, and Juanes Seto took seventh with a time of 10:07.88. In the 1,000-meter run, Hartman took ninth with a time of 3:04.46.

Boys’ track: In the Division 1 Indoor Track & Field Championships for boys, CRLS finished 21st among 27 teams. St. John’s Prep won the title. Henry Parker finished sixth in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:36.72. In the one-mile run, Leon Ibanez Fraile took seventh with a time of 4:22.37. The 4×200 meter relay team of Matthew Shokoti, Winslow Lively, Joshua Silber and Miel Henry finished seventh with a time of 1:32.82.

Girls’ swimming: The girls’ swimming team finished 14th among 38 teams at the Division 1 State Championships, a meet won by Concord-Carlisle. Laura Park paced CRLS, finishing fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:00.90 and 12th in the 100-yard freestyle (56.33). Bess Sterman was sixth In the 500-yard freestyle (5:21.60) and 12th in the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.24). Lila Nguyen placed tenth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.39).

Boys’ swimming: The boys’ swimming team finished 36th among 39 teams in its Division 1 State Championships. St. John’s Prep won the title. The 4×50 yard freestyle relay team of Evan Wei, Khantushig Lkhagvajargal, Giacomo Zambotti and Hong-Joon Koh took 16th with a time of 1:34.32. Koh took 19th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.83.
