Ballantyne endorsed by Capuano, Pineda Neufeld
Former Ward 7 councilor Judy Pineda Neufeld, who left the post Monday, endorsed the mayoral reelection run of Katjana Ballantyne this week. โAs City Council president and Ward 7 city councilor, Iโve had the privilege of working closely with mayor Katjana Ballantyne. Her commitment to Somerville is unmatched, and her collaborative leadership has strengthened our community and our government,โ Pineda Neufeld posted on Instagram on Monday.
Michael Capuano, formerly Somervilleโs mayor and a state representatives, also endorsed Ballantyne.ย โShe led Somerville out of Covid, and she’s done more to make housing affordable than anyone. Now she’s suing Trump to protect Somerville and keep our benefits. She’s got my vote!” Capuano said in a press release from the Ballantyne campaign.

Strezo gets Teamsters endorsement
Councilor at-large Kristen Strezo has been endorsed by the local chapter of the Teamsters labor union. โProudly representing nearly 13,000 working men and women in Eastern Massachusetts, Teamsters Local 25 is one of the largest labor unions in the state. On behalf of Local 25, I wish you the best of luck on Election Day and look forward to continuing our work on important issues locally and statewide,โ the union wrote in a letter posted by Strezo on Instagram, signed by chapter president Thomas G. Mari.
Strezo is running for reelection. The councilโs four at-large seats are also sought by incumbent councilor Will Mbah and 10 new challengers.

Iaccarino to host โMystic River Walkโ campaign eventย
Ari Iaccarino, who is running for councilor at large, is hosting a campaign event Tuesday. The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., includes a 3.5-mile walk along the Mystic River with a stop at the Scoop N Scootery for ice cream. Signups for the event are open on Ridj-It, a company co-founded by Iaccarino. The event is free and dog-friendly.

Klekota organizes phone banks
Justin Klekota, who is running for councilor at large, has organized phone banks for his campaign this week. The phone banks will be organized virtually and take place Sundays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sign ups for the phone banks are available on Mobilize.
