The Harvard Summer Chorus performs Ross Lee Finney’s “Pilgrim Psalms” and premieres Carson Cooman’s “Rain Songs,” while the Harvard Summer School Orchestra presents its 31st annual concert under the direction of Judith Zuckerman with Faure’s “Pavane,” Berlioz’s “Les Nuits d’été” (with mezzo-soprano Letitia Stevens) and Rossini’s “Overture to L’Italian in Algeri,” as well as selections form Bizet’s “Carmen Suites” – both in the gorgeous Sanders Theatre and free – on consecutive nights. The 42nd of these multimedia, multi-act performance party and variety shows known as Orgs (all produced and curated by Mali Sastri, of Boston avant-art rock band Jaggery) is a Black & White Ball, which encourages audience members to wear black and white while taking in art that explores contrasts, opposites and extremes – including music by Jaggery and Faun Fables of Oakland, performance by Luminarium Dance and Kristilyn Stevenson and many more. The ELS Game Day from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at Pandemonium Books & Games, 4 Pleasant St., Central Square, offers card games, board games and role-playing games for women and girls of all ages only, inspired by (and taking its acronym from) aviator Amelia Earhart, mathematician Ada Lovelace and author Mary Shelley. The Recycle for Rock to Benefit GRCB from 6:30 p.m. Saturday to 12:30 a.m. Sunday at Once Lounge + Ballroom, 156 Highland Ave., Somerville, is a sale of records, CDs, books and other gently used items for all to benefit the Girls Rock Campaign Boston that includes the Cover for Your Friends Fest of bands – including The Knock Ups, Psychic Dog, Mercury on Mars, Thrust Club and Rrrright? – as well as comedy, vendors and a photo booth. This one-night festival (adding comedians in its second year) sponsored by Aeronaut Brewing is headlined by Ruby Rose Fox – winner of last year’s Boston Music Awards’ Best Female Vocalist and Best Pop Artist awards – and backup singers The Steinems. Additional performances are from singer-songwriter Maggie Whitlock, acoustic gospel-, blues- and jazz-tinged trio The By & By and a showcase of comedians and storytellers hosted by Nick Ortolani that includes Pamela Ross, Mike Lemme, Wes Hazard and Chris Post. The third annual Cambridge Jazz Festival is hosted by Eric Jackson, of WGBH’s Jazz 24/7, and headlined by saxophonist Walter Beasley.
