Early Wednesday police arrested Santony Joseph, 23, of 9 Earl St., Malden, as a suspect in a series of recent street robberies.

During the investigation of a number of armed street robberies in Cambridge and surrounding communities, police were able to locate the suspect in Medford.  Detectives from Brookline and Cambridge saw a suspect driving a vehicle that fit the description of one of the suspects from the recent string of robberies.

After encountering the suspect and seeing evidence inside the car, Joseph was arrested and charged with armed robbery, armed robbery with a knife and receiving stolen property. More charges to follow from Cambridge and other communities.

Cambridge Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying an accomplice in the robberies and ask anyone with information to call (617) 349-3300.

Members of the Cambridge, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Somerville, Brookline, Boston University and state police departments worked on the arrest, as well as the U.S. Secret Service, according to a police press release.
