Free Central Sw!ngs dance event postponed by weather warnings
The outdoor Central Sw!ngs performance planned for this evening is postponed due to threats of thunderstorms, said Robin Lapidus, executive director of the Central Square Business Association.
The performance will be rescheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 9 in Jill Brown Rhone Plaza — also known as Lafayette Plaza — in Central Square.
The event is a free celebration of music, dance, drumming, poetry and theater featuring an array of Central Square talents, Lapidus said. This year is to feature the Jean Appolon Dance Ensemble and special guests and be presented by The Dance Complex, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary in Central Square this fall. After the dance performances, there will be a surprise performance from a local favorite Central Square band, Lapidus said.
This event is sponsored by the Cambridge Arts Council, Mass Cultural Council, Central Square Theater, JB Realty Trust, ImprovBoston, the Middle East nightclub, Toscanini’s ice cream, Central Square Business Association and the Dig alternative newspaper.
