051214i-Nice-shot-Suffolk-misspelling

A sharp-eyed reader of this site and rider of the T spotted something disappointing about this ad for Suffolk University’s graduate level programs and sent it along to see if anyone here could spot it. (No.) Do you see the problem?

The answer: If you look on the seventh line of the chalkboard, it appears the university is offering “mental health couseling” instead of “counseling” – which could almost be forgiven if not for the obvious care taken to jump “political science” not just from lines eight to nine, but around the central red box offering an avenue for more information. Although another close look shows that this also is a little off – it’s a course in political “sccience.”

  1. Actually, it looks as though a random number of letters from the end of each line is repeated at the beginning of the next line throughout this tribute to a Suffolk education (or not), except for the misspelled counseling (unless that’s a partial e at the beginning of the next line?). It probably wouldn’t improve if we could see the whole poster without the frame obscuring the edges.
