101314i-Nice-shot--Big-Dig-toy-at-Stellabella

This Big Dig toy is available at the Davis Square branch of Stellabella Toys. Maker Reeves Toys says its โ€œtwo-handed controls improve hand/eye coordination and manual dexterityโ€ for kids ages 3 and over and that it has โ€œsturdy metal constructionโ€ and โ€œhas been selected as one of 2014โ€™s must-have spring and summer outdoor toys by the Toy Insider.โ€ It costs $44.99 off the shelf.

Unfortunately, by the time you get it to the checkout, it costs $85.48.

Also, some assembly required โ€“ just like the real thing.

(Surprisingly, Stellabella workers said last week that our inquiries represented the first Big Dig jokes theyโ€™d received.)

  1. I understand Marc is trying to make a point here re cost overruns on the big dig….

but…..we don’t have the same “free pass” to just pass on cost increases.

So….if you want the “big dig” item……it is indeed $44.99……

As a small local business we strive to be as competitive as possible with our pricing……We simply can’t just mark up all the prices as maybe the government could get away with!

Great to have Marc calling us out…We appreciate all he does for Cambridge Day!!
