From the Cambridge Police Department, Sept. 27, 2017: Cambridge Police encourage residents to join officers at “Coffee With a Cop” events Wednesday.

Police Commissioner Branville G. Bard, neighborhood lieutenants and sergeants and other department personnel will be available to speak with residents between 8 and 10 a.m. Wednesday – that’s National Coffee with a Cop Day – at two locations: Toscanini’s ice cream, 899 Main St., Central Square; and Bourbon Coffee, 1815 Massachusetts Ave., Porter Square.

“These events represent a unique opportunity for community members to informally meet with officers in a neutral location to discuss community issues, respond to questions, build relationships and, of course, drink great coffee,” police said in a press release.

Several “Coffee With the Commissioner” events are also being planned for several Saturday mornings in the fall to give residents opportunities to meet Bard, who was appointed in August.  Dates and locations will be announced shortly, police said.

All community members are invited to attend the events. For information, call (617) 349-3236 or send email to [email protected].
