Council to vote on its leaders

City Council and School Committee organizational meeting, 5 p.m. Tuesday. The City Council will vote on who will be its 2024 president and vice president. The current president is Ward 3 councilor Ben Ewen-Campen, and the current vice president is Ward 7 councilor Judy Pineda Neufeld. The council will then recess for an organizational meeting of the School Committee. The meeting takes place at Somerville City Hall, 93 Highland Ave., Central Hill, in the council chambers.

City welcomes newly elected

Somerville Inauguration, 6 p.m. Tuesday. Following the City Council’s organizational meeting, the city hosts 2024 inauguration ceremonies. The ceremony will include American Sign Language, Spanish and Portuguese interpretations, and other language interpreters are available upon request. The ceremony will be held at Somerville High School, 81 Highland Ave., Central Hill. After the ceremony, a public reception will take place at 7:30 p.m. at The Row Hotel, 360 Foley St., Assembly Square, Somerville.


Developers seek plan approval

Neighborhood meeting about 181 Pearl St., 6 p.m. Wednesday. Sponsored by Ward 1 city councilor Matthew McLaughlin, the neighborhood meeting covers a proposed apartment building at 181 Pearl St., Winter Hill. The developers 181 Pearl Street LLC seek site plan approval and special permits. Architect Paul Miller of Neighborhood Studio and the developers will present the plans and answer questions. The meeting takes place over Zoom videoconferencing.
