Earth Day events

Pollinators, Plants and Possibilities, Saturday. The city celebrates Earth Day with two events. The first is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Groundwork Somerville’s South Street Farm, 138 South St., in Ward 2. The second event is from 2 to 4 p.m. at the The Growing Center, 22 Vinal Ave., near Union Square.

Free Narcan to stop overdoses

Narcan distribution, 11 a.m. Saturday. The Somerville Prevention staff hosts a Narcan distribution event. Overdose prevention information and harm-reduction materials, including Narcan, Fentanyl test strips, CPR face shields and syringe disposal boxes that will be handed out for free. This event will take place at Statue Park in Davis Square.


Pollinator action plan talk

Pollinator Action Table, 4 p.m. Tuesday. This event in celebration of Earth Day is an opportunity for attendees to learn about the Pollinator Action Plan and ways to explore biodiversity in their neighborhoods. The Pollinator Action Plan Advisory Committee was created in response to the declining population of pollinators such as bees in New England. This event will take place at the Public Library West Branch, 40 College Ave., near Davis Square.

Community Walk

West Broadway Community Walk, 6 p.m. Tuesday. Somerville Pedestrian and Transit Advisory Committee hosts a walk on West Broadway between Clarendon Avenue and Alewife Brook Parkway (Route 16). West Broadway is being repaved and the sidewalks are to be reconstructed as part of the city’s Pavement and Sidewalk Management Program. The Tuesday walk is to generate community feedback that will help inform the reconstruction designs. The walk will start at Lou Ann David Park, 1060 Broadway, near Teele Square.

Mystic and Draw 7 improvements

Somerville Conservation Commission, 7 p.m. Tuesday. The commission meets to discuss Mystic River pathway rehabilitation, Draw 7 Park renovations and more. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.


Climate Forward plan talk

Imaging Climate Forward 2050, 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. This event celebrates Somerville’s updated community climate action plan, Climate Forward. There will be live music, refreshments and interactive art. The event takes place at Greentown Labs, 444 Somerville Avenue, Ward 2. Registration for this event is encouraged.

Flood mitigation info session

Mystic River outfall and sewer separation, 6 p.m. Wednesday. A Mystic River outfall and sewer separation project will be introduced, the preliminary design concepts will be reviewed and attendees can provide feedback. The project is part of a flood mitigation and water quality master plan. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing and preregistration is required.


Fair Housing Commission to meet

Fair Housing Commission, 3 p.m. Thursday. The commission meets to discuss Fair Housing Month events, Anti-Displacement Task Force updates, the a fiscal year annual report and more. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.

Earth Day forest tour

Miyawaki Forest tour, 5:30 p.m, Thursday. In celebration of Earth Day, the city hosts a tour through the city’s Miyawaki Forest to learn about the city’s urban tree canopy. The tour starts at Somerville High School, 81 Highland Ave., Central Hill.
