Safe disposal of drugs and meds
National Drug Take Back Day Collection Event, 10 a.m. Saturday. The city hosts two events for residents to dispose safely of prescription medications and unused needles and syringes. Overdose prevention information and resources will be made available. These events will take place at the fire department stations at 220 Washington St., Ward 2 (the best place for disposal of unused needles and syringes) and 6 Newbury St., Teele Square. The city also offers a 24/7 kiosk at 220 Washington St. for disposal.
Pollinator plan group updates
Somerville Pollinator Action Plan Advisory Committee, 4 p.m. Monday. The Pollinator Action Plan Advisory Committee, created in response to the declining population of pollinators such as bees in New England, has its monthly meeting. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.
Scholarship committee updates
Somerville Municipal Scholarship Committee, 6 p.m. Monday. The committee meets to discuss the application process for the need-based $1,000 education help for five graduating seniors in the Class of 2024, updates on total applicants to date, the selection process review and more. Information on 382 McGrath plan
Neighborhood meeting 2 on 382 McGrath Highway, 6:30 p.m. Monday. Architect for a proposed development at 382 McGrath Highway in Prospect Hill, Housen Zhang, and landscape designer Michael Joachim, lead a discussion of plans for the multifamily and office structure sold in 2022 for $1.6 million. Jobs with Tufts, TSA and more
Job fair, 10 a.m. Wednesday. Veterans enter at 10 a.m. and the general public at 11 a.m. to talk about jobs with representatives of The Home Depot, City of Somerville, Tufts University, Encore Boston Harbor and Transportation Security Administration, among other employers expected. Attendees should dress professionally and are encouraged to register with a JobQuest ID number. Walk-ins are welcome. This event takes place at the MassHire Career Center at 186 Alewife Brook Parkway, Cambridge.
Fair Housing updates
Fair Housing Commission, 3 p.m. Thursday. The commission meets to discuss Anti-Displacement Task Force updates, Fair Housing month events, review of calls and complaints since the last meeting and more. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.
City asks about federal funds
Five-Year Consolidated Plan community meeting, 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The city seeks community input on how to spend around $3.2 million annually to benefit low- and moderate-income residents. These yearly funds come from the federal government for housing and community development activities. To get the funds, the city has to create a five-year plan to decide where funding is needed; the 2024-2028 period is being discussed. Watchable by Zoom videoconferencing.
